Peanut Gallery
Is it me or has the media and press layed off of Barack Obama a bit. I'm watching CNN and they are covering Christina Applegates breast cancer story. Who is Christina Applegate you ask... Kelley from Married with Children. Recently you couldn't watch or read anything that wasn't pertaining to the election. After the election you couldn't watch or read anything that wasn't challenging president elect Barack Obama. I imagine leading up to the Inaguration things will spark up again. Fox News found every illegitmate notion they could speak up concerning Obama and reported it. Where is the info... guess there is no more need to release the false statements.
The Negativity Failed
For my book review I studied the Art of Negative Campaining. The book "Going Dirty" was written by a guy named David Mark. For political junkies this book is a must read. What I want to point out in this blog is how the act of using negative antics to win elections failed miserably in this years current election. When dealing with neagtivity in campaigns, the public either loves it are hates it, there is rarely a gray area. The turnout of this election proved that the negative campaign advertisements and slander had little or no effect in the swaying of voters. The race wasn't even a close call. Negativty can dominate campaigns. Next time I bet opposing canidates will treat negative campaining more delicately. Dirty politics is apart of Americas past, present, and future. The easy reach of negative campaigns is likely the reason for the use. So I ask, Why are campaigns so negative? Answer...because it usually works! The information is not adequate. When will be improve our standards?

What Else People...
At work today I was forced to endure the skeptic conversations concerning President Elect Barack Obama's birth certificate. My Republican co-workers insist that Obama was born in Kenya and his mom quickly rushed to Hawaii shortly after giving birth in order to make Barack Obama an American citizen. they say that a request for citizenship was never filed for Obama and therfore he is not an American citizen. The man was born in Oahu, Honolulu on august 4th, 1961 at 7:24 am. last time I checked Hawaii is one of the united States and there is no need to file for citizenship when you are born in America. This is ludacris! What else will they come up with? My co-workers believe that Obama has this case tied up in a court system in order to keep his valid birth certificate from being revieled....Ad Hoc Where is the proof? When I easliy accessed the WWW and showed them a copy of his birth certificate they said it's a fake document. hey, guess you can't please everyone.

0197
I cast my ballot Saturday Oct. 25th @ approximately 10:45 am. I feel liberated. I have voted twice in my lifetime for presidential canidates, and for the first time I actually feel great about it! Many Texans that identify with the Democratic party choose not to vote at all being that Texas is a Republican state, and although this is probably true I had to do my civil duty. Some people on't even realize that I, We barely even have the right to vote. The bill hasn't been ratified...so why not take advantage? We've come so for in American politics but yet we have so far to go...

Glued to The Tube
With great anticipation of the debate tomorrow evening i'm sitting in front of the television straing at CNN. I am quite anxious to see how things turn out. In class today we discussed the media. There are several different forms of media. The debate is an example of free media, and the debates, interviews, and mere comments have shown how great of an impact the media has on this election. Dr. Fairbanks mentioned early in the course that due to mass media, which was not existent in early democracy, how severe campaigning and appealing to your audience is today. David Mark, the author of The Art of Negative Campaiging discusses within his text that attacks become personal, and campaigns go sour because IT WORKS. It has been proven. Piggybacking on what some of you blogged about earlier in the week, I will not be tuning into Fox News post debate. It is no secret that I am an Obama supporter. Although, I don't believe any startegy in this debate will make any differences at this point, I realize that this battle is not over. The news mentioned Obama is tryig to "buy" this race. NEGATIVITY!

Palin Vs- Biden
Oh me oh my, where do I begin. First I would like to announce that compared to the debate between Barack and McCain this show was a bit more intense. I am appauled that people are giving way more credit to Sarah Palin than deserved. Palin is simply not ready to take control if the country if appointed to president of the United States. She is extremely to caddy and sarcastic. I find that commentors are simply giving her kudos because she did not perform as poorly as expected, but in no shape form or fashion was she speaking with any expertise. Both debates have been sort of a toss up, at least this is my personal opinion. In chapter 5 of the textbook Road to the White House 2008, Wayne raises awareness to Media associated with debates. He talks about free media, paid media, and gaining the media's attention. This information is intersting and will probably rais eeyenrows once covered because the staging that I witnessed tonight was quite similiar.

The Platforms
Because I identify with Democrats I will first bring awareness to their platform for 2008. The idea is of change and hope. The slogan is "Renewing America's Promise". This is a stable and healthy leg to stand on. The Good Ole Party's platform is in my opinion ancient. Their basis is to preserve out nation as is. Our nation as is has not been profitbale for citizens. Has anyone thought about our future and evolutuon? The Republican campaign promotes defending our America, but against whom? The target is not accurate. Personally, I think the platform of the GOP is biased and selfish. It foucses on immoral standards that are only convient for one party. The Democratic platform is new and more flexible. It leads in a better direction, a new direction... Obviously the old way doens't fit any longer.

The Monies
After reviewing the websites, I am even more perplexed than I was pre- Huffington Post website. It was ironic to me how one year a parishioner would donate to the Republican cause and the very next election the SAME individual would donate to the Democratic convention. I also recognized the names of streets lived on by the contributors. I didn't realize that citizens in my area were so active in the presidential elections as to where they provided funding. While driving in my Alief neighborhood I never notice picket yard signs, bumber stickers, t-shirts, or anything of supportive genre. However, I was not suprised to see the contributions of many Democratic supporters. The donators that contributed to the Republican system made considerably higher monitary amounts. Why is this? Is is true that Rebulbicans tend to be more wealthy than Democrats?
